Loreto Gesualdo, MD, is a Professor of Nephrology at the University “Aldo Moro”of Bari and Chief of the Department of Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation at the University Hospital “Policlinico” in Bari in Italy. He is President of the Regional Centres for Agri Technology (Ce.R.T.A. scrl) and Member in the Executive Board  of H-BIO Puglia District, in which several “omics” technologic platforms have been organized. Professor Gesualdo is a member of the Italian Society of Nephrology (SIN), the International Society of Nephrology (ISN),, the American Society of Nephrology (ASN), the Renal Pathology Society (RPS) and the European Macrophage and Dendritic Cell Society (EMDS). Council Member, ERA-EDTA, Member Steering Committee of Immunonephrology Working Group, ERA-EDTA.
He is in the editorial board of 5 international journals and "peer reviewer" for 15 International Journals.
His scientific interests mainly focus on the cellular and molecular mechanisms implicated in the pathogenesis of immunoglobulin A nephropathy and in the progression of renal damage. His recent research is aimed at the discovery of renal biomarkers using proteomic tools. Professor Gesualdo has authored 381 papers in refereed journals, has over 5.144 citations, and his impact factor is greater than 1.000, H-score 38.
