Emilio Fiorentino
Incoming President -AISO Italian Dental Student Association

Dear Colleagues and friends,
This is the first time I attend the IADS and YDW Congress and as Incoming President of AISO, the Italian Dental Students Association,  I’m proud to give my contribution to the organization of the Italian Part.
I hope that this meeting will be the first of many others for me, but above all, I believe that this congress will pave the way for the foundation of future projects. I also want to share with you my profound will to start and strengthen the cooperation between AISO and all the Associations that will be here at the congress.
Emilio Fiorentino
Incoming President AISO

Dr Francesco Testa

Member of the National Council of University Students (CNSU)

I am honoured and delighted to participate to the 60th IADS & YDW Annual World Dental Congress here in Italy.
This is a unique opportunity to meet people from all over the world willing to share their knowledge and experience. We work in similar fields and have so many points in common, but we also have our differences due to our diverse social and cultural backgrounds, and this makes this meeting even more fruitful and rich in ideas.
I believe in the importance of intercultural exchange, expressed so well by IADS clinical and research internships. I also think that academic integration at the International level should be a priority. Degree programs in the medical field should have the same structure, regardless of the country where the University is located; this should make the exchange initiative simpler than now. As a member of the National Council of University Students (C.N.S.U.) my goal is to advise the Ministry of University and Research on this matter in order to find a reasonable solution.
I'm sure the congress will be a very rewarding experience for all the participants.

Ingmar Dobberstein

President of YDW - Young Dentist Worldwide

Dear dental students, young dentists

and participants from all around the world,

I welcome you to the 60th Annual World Congress of IADS and Young Dentists Worldwide. Not only is this a remarkable jubilee for an outstanding organisation, as well it is the second time in IADS history to have a joined congress with the World Dental Federation FDI.

Today, 60 years after its foundation IADS has seen many generations of ambitious students and dentists that worked for a better understanding, exchanging information and culture between young practitioners from all around the world. And still, there is a long way to go to reach all the aims this organisation had within this time.

Looking on todays situation on this planet we can see that our goals depend a lot on the general development of cultures and countries, which is not only going forward. Still there is lots of wars and political oppression on our planet. Even in the most developed countries we have to face financial, political and economical crisis.

Since our profession is very close to the people we will always be one of the first sensors to see the wellbeing of the population because of their health situation and sometimes it is very hard to realize how small our influences are.

Seeing these developments as well as some kind of process of generations this jubilee is not only a moment to look back in history but as well to ask ourselves how to approach the future? And, as an observer of these processes during the last decade i can only encourage you to enhance the efforts for a global health, to intensify your efforts not only locally but globally as well. FDI´s project »Vision 2020« is one important step but there will be a lot to follow.

Once again there is a new generation, in universities, dental offices and our organisations. Take the chance of our globalising world to spread your thoughts and goals for a better global health and culture exchange ... and start with it today.

YDW Exco and I wish you an inspirational meeting and lots of fun combined with our great thanks to the turkish and italian organisers.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I am more than happy and honored to welcome you at the 60th IADS & YDW Annual Meeting (Italy 2013), an event which gathered together dental students and young dentists from all the corners of the world. We have set our goals high and have succeeded in offering a large variety of scientific activities which will serve the students’ educational interests and will help creating long lasting friendship bonds. We would like to convey our gratitude to all the participants for their interest in attending our congress and to all members of the organizing committee that have worked for 1 year to make this event so special and unforgettable.

The Congress wouldn’t be possible to organize without the support of our Headmaster, Prof. Lorenzo Lo Muzio, the city Mayor and the Assessor Salvatore Stallone, and above all, all the sponsors. With this occassion I would like to thank them for having trusted us in the project of a group of young dentists and students . We wish you to spend a great and educationally rewarding time at the congress and to “taste” all the vibrant emotions that only a Seaside city of south Italy like Giovinazzo, can offer .

Prof. Giuliano Volpe

In a context of profound changes and rethinking not only of the entire university system but also of professional association, this conference aims to give university teachers and students as well as professional dental surgeons of the future the possibility to exchange views on a wide range of highly topical issues related to the object of the world annual dental congress.

It is hoped that the conference will provide a showcase for new trends in dental scientific problems in an increasingly globalized world which is at the same time being
forced to carry out radical reforms.

I wish the chairman, prof. Lo Muzio, and all the participants at the congress a great and fruitful work.

Prof. Lorenzo Lo Muzio
